Drivers from all over the U.S. and Canada will invade Evergreen Speedway in just over a month for the 6th Annual Summer Showdown chasing the $25,000 winner’s check. The 2016 Summer Showdown Champion, Tayler Riddle of Naches, WA will return to defend his title. Riddle has been one of the most dominant driver over the past couple of years on the big 5/8th track at Evergreen Speedway. Back in 2012 it was Pete Harding of Surrey, BC taking home the win in the inaugural Showdown race. The former NASCAR Northwest Tour Champion headlines a few Canadian drivers to make the trip across the border.
The list of past Evergreen Speedway Champions is impressive, as well as several NASCAR Super Late Model Championships in the field. The drivers include five-time champion Naima Lang and two-time champion Mike Holden, both from Snohomish, WA. The race will also see the return of three-time track champion John Zaretzke of Machias, WA. The 2013 NASCAR State and Track champion, Daniel Moore of Snohomish, WA will look to improve his upon his luck at Showdown #6.
The two hottest drivers at Evergreen Speedway in 2017 will be on hand as well with current points leader, Trenton Moriarity of Monroe, WA. Trenton is looking to bounce back from a very hard wreck at the Summer Showdown in 2016. It’s been a big year for Jeff Knight at Evergreen Speedway with three wins and multiple podiums. Knight is looking to improve his spot on the podium at his biggest race of the year.
The Southwest will be represented strong as headlined by three-time Spears SRL Southwest Series Champion and former K&N West Champion, Derek Thorn, from Lakeport, CA. Thorn has been very impressive in his first two Summer Showdown races finishing second and third. The defending Winter Showdown Champion is looking to complete his trophy collection with a first-place finish.
The first driver to enter the race from the state of Texas is 2016 Southern Super Series Championship runner-up, Chris Davidson. The Pearland, TX star has gathered big wins throughout the south during his long career. Davidson will be making his first ever trip to Evergreen Speedway.
Last year it was Preston Peltier leading more laps than any other driver at the 2016 Summer Showdown but a late race mechanical issue ended his race early. The Fort Lupton, CO driver has been splitting duties between West and East Coast taking wins on both sides of the country. The former PASS Champion is coming off a big win in June at Magic Valley Speedway for the Spud 150.
The entry list also includes Seven-time Touring Late Model Champion and Northwest racing legend Garrett Evans from East Wenatchee, WA. The veteran driver is still looking for his first Showdown win.
Past NASCAR K&N West Series winner, Gracin Raz, will make his return to the Summer Showdown. The Lake Oswego, OR driver will be racing with the Jefferson-Pitts Racing team. Brandon Farrington will be making the long trip up from Tucson, AZ as he has been racing throughout the west coast in 2017.
Tyler Tanner is fresh off winning the Central Welding Supply 125 last weekend. The Auburn, WA driver is looking to improve his previous runs at the Showdown.
